The Associated Press: US State Department issues travel alert for Mexico

Violence continues along the U.S. and Mexico border. Last year, more than 6,000 people were killed in Mexico due to drug violence. While the U.S. isn't telling tourists to stay away from Mexico, they are cautioning travellers to avoid areas with drugs and prostitution.

I'm sure that Mexico is losing a considerable amount of money due to a decrease in tourism over the recent violence. We used to go to Cancun every year, but don't plan on doing it this time. They can't guarantee a tourists safety until they get this issue straightened out.
