My question is has anyone on the forum been close to a volcano when it has erupted?

My father was in Mexico one time when one was starting to erupt. He said it was, in an eerie way, beautiful.

Never been near a volcano right before it erupts. Luckily, there aren't many volcanoes here in the northern part of Texas.

Lol, well I know that! HaHa. Just curious to see if anyone had some up close and personal pics of some they had actually seen. I find it interesting. (not saying that they should be close enough to get hurt, though)

Vulcanism occurs all over the World, so a volcano in Alaska is no surprise. How close to they let tourists get to the volcano? I wonder if they plan on having the areas around the volcano evacuated? This would be something good to see if you are in Alaska on vacation.
