My question is has anyone on the forum been close to a volcano when it has erupted?

My father was in Mexico one time when one was starting to erupt. He said it was, in an eerie way, beautiful.

Never been near a volcano right before it erupts. Luckily, there aren't many volcanoes here in the northern part of Texas.

Lol, well I know that! HaHa. Just curious to see if anyone had some up close and personal pics of some they had actually seen. I find it interesting. (not saying that they should be close enough to get hurt, though)

Sounds like a once in a lifetime event.
