I am not a huge Christina Aguilera fan. She can belt out a tune, but so can Celine Dion and I don't care for her at all.
Anyway The song "Beautiful" was written by 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry. Aguilera recorded it and it became an international number 1 hit. Recently for the new House MD soundtrack, the legendary Elvis Costello was asked to cover the song. And he did not disappoint. Fusing the "pulse"-like theme song for the show with the lyrics, made it hauntingly...well, beautiful. Lots of cool people seem to be somehow involved in this track --
Elvis Costello, Linda Perry . . . I've heard great covers of the tune by two college rock bands Built to Spill and Clem Snide. I never liked the song until I started hearing all these covers. BTW, Clem Snide get their name from a character in William Burroughs' The Naked Lunch. Anyway, here's the Clem Snide cover link, for any interested: YouTube - Clem Snide - Beautiful |

4 Non Blondes. Man, there's a name I haven't heard in years. I remember having their big hit album and really enjoying it.
I like all the versions of "Beautiful" listed on here, although I must admit that Xtina's is still my favorite. Say what you will about her, but that girl can sing her little ass off.
