Big Bopper's coffin to be sold on eBay - Yahoo! News

The son of 50's rock star The Big Bopper will soon be selling his father's coffin on eBay. The Big Bopper has been buried inside for the past 48 years since dying in a plane crash with Buddy Holly and Richie Valens in 1959.

The steel casket was exhumed in 2007 so the Big Bopper could be moved to a more visible location. His son says he'll use the money from the auction to fund a musical show about his father.

Is it just me, or is that a really strange thing to buy and/or sell?

Yep, it's pretty damned odd. The son was born three months after the Big Bopper died, so the first time he saw his father in person was when they exhumed the body. His trademark hair was said to still be in perfect condition.
