Default Trends for Foods in 2009

Food Trends for 2009 | Special Coverage | Reuters

There was plenty of food news in 2008, from tomatoes being recalled across the country to many restaurants listing the calories of each item on their menu.

So what's in store for 2009?

How about things like Recession Diets, Custom Foods and Alternative Sweeteners?

Since the 1970's, pretty much since the food industry became nearly completely mechanized and managed by mega-corporations and conglomerates, we have seen a rise in food contamination by food-born illnesses and agrotoxins (pesticides and poisons). Start with the horribly inhumane and crowded conditions in the animal factories, the practice of including animal parts in the feed, farming the animals not for their resistance to disease but for their beefy hips or their huge white breasts, and you see animals that are sick, can not walk, can not even mate successfully.
