Default William Shatner and Free Comic Book Day

Comic Book Resources > CBR News: William Shatner joins Free Comic Book Day line-up

William Shatner just keeps right on making money. But at least for a day, he appears to be giving something away. On May 2nd, it's time for the annual Free Comic Book Day (where stores give away free comics to their customers).

Bluewater Productions will be giving away a 32-page special entitled "William Shatner Presents." It will serve as a prologue to the upcoming Tech War series.

The book will also feature previews of the other Shatner-based comic series, Quest for Tomorrow and Man O' War, as well as a sneak peek of the yet-untitled original story developed by Shatner.

Anybody remember Shatner's TekWar tv series?

I remember I was a big Shatner hater at the time, so I never watched more than an episode or two. I remember thinking he "strutted" too much around the set. I've softened my position on Shatner since then and kind of like the old fellow, so I would like to go back and see what a second viewing would look like.

Since it was one of that myriad of 90's movies/tv shows about the new "virtual age", I imagine it would still be pretty awful. Most of them focused too much on that stuff and forgot to come up with a decent story.

If I remember correctly, I think the TekWar series (starring Greg Evigan of BJ and the Bear) was part of the original "Action Pack" lineup. This series of action shows brought us Hercules (starring Kevin Sorbo - which eventually spun-off Xena: Warrior Princess) and gems like Bandit and Knight Rider 2010.
