Elvis Costello, Linda Perry . . . I've heard great covers of the tune by two college rock bands Built to Spill and Clem Snide.

I never liked the song until I started hearing all these covers. BTW, Clem Snide get their name from a character in William Burroughs' The Naked Lunch.
