By the way, Dan Didio continues his systematic destruction of DC Comics. I think he had competitive sales for a while 2-3 years ago, but from the little bit I pay attention to that stuff, I think they're starting to falter again. (And I don't mean in this economy, but relative to other industry figures.)
Whatever, his editorial oversight has robbed DC of any soul it had left. It's turned into nothing more than a monthly bloodletting of obscure characters. And what they did to the New Gods, supposedly to "give them an honorable death", was just an insult. I'm pretty sure Darkseid has died twice in the last year.
Sure, these big yearly crises have screwed up Marvel and DC for the past 20 years, because it's all plot-based instead of character-based. But doesn't one editor understand that good character-based comics might actually bring back some fans? Can't one of them try quality stories about quality characters that people care about, instead of the latest over-hyped plot twist? Whatever happened to having the heroes seem competent and on the ball and maybe even heroic?
It just seems like comics these days are just one long string of heroes chasing their tails around, being dupes to some new crisis. Oh well, I don't think they'll be getting any more of my money for a while.
If I were hired to write the next big crossover, my villain would be the mysterious "Dr. Didio". He would be the most destructive DC villain yet. Imperiex just destroyed whole galaxies in the DC Universe. Dr. Didio would cross the fourth wall to destroy DC's fandom. Let's see you cry about that, Superman.
